Defend California's Oil Industry -- Join CIPA Today
The California Independent Petroleum Association (CIPA) is California’s only statewide advocacy organization actively fighting for the interests of independent oil and natural gas producers, royalty owners, and service and supply companies.
Every day Californians consume 1.5 million barrels of oil in the form of fuel, roads, home and personal goods, and even medical equipment. Yet only 25% of that demand is met by energy produced here in California, under the strictest laws, rules and regulations in the world. The remaining 75% is tankered in from foreign countries who don't share our values when it comes to human rights, neighborhood safety, or protection of the environment.
As long as Californians continue to rely on petroleum in so many aspects of daily life, responsible in-state production is critical. California oil is the cleanest, most stringently regulated oil in the world. Yet lawmakers continue to push policy aimed at shutting our industry down, increasing our dependence on foreign oil, eliminating high-wage California jobs, and threatening our energy security.
CIPA works to ensure that California’s energy future remains clean, reliable, responsible, and affordable. By uniting producers, policymakers, and communities, we can safeguard an industry that supports thousands of families and keeps California moving.

CIPA is proud to partner with Californians for Energy Independence (CEI), a coalition of over 200,000 Californians standing together to support safe, affordable, and reliable in-state oil & gas production. Along with other industry partners, CEI develops messaging strategies to push back against executive, legislative, regulatory, and local government proposals that aim to shutdown local oil and natural gas production.
